WHO ELSE IS WONDERING WHERE IS THIS GOING?!
Tesla partnered with SpaceX to engineer plans for a Bluetooth-enabled brain implant that connects with a person’s smartphone. It’s being called the, “Neutralink.” Musk says the chip will allow the user connect to apps on their phone. Musk is also saying that this new invention can do more than just operate the phone, it was the capability to improve the motor functions of users with injuries, even has the potential to enable telepathy in users.
“The interface to the chip is wireless, so you have no wires poking out of your head… which is very important,” says Musk.
The procedure performed would involve a surgeon-controlled robot that will drill a small 2-millimeter hole in the skull for insertion. Neuralink is expecting trial runs for the implant to begin in late 2020.
